Welcome to the Max-Weber-Institute of Sociology

The Max-Weber-Institute of Sociology builds on a rich tradition of research, scholarship and teaching. From the time Max Weber lectured and wrote at Heidelberg to the present day, the institute has been home to sociologists deeply committed to the development of the discipline, addressing fundamental questions about the social world, and advancing theoretical understanding, empirical knowledge and methodological skills. We offer programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels covering social theory, research methods and core substantive fields. We invite you to explore this site, and feel free to contact us.
